Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp is an eco safari camp located in Maasai Mara in Kenya founded in 2017. It is made to meet the needs of professional wildlife photographers, nature photo enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. We are offering the very best guides in Maasai Mara with many years experience working with nature photographers. With the best guides and a specially modified vehicle for photography were you both have a good overview and can do low-angle photography, we are giving the clients the opportunity for prime wildlife experiences and first-rate images.

The camp is located in Oltepesi Village which actually is a genuine Maasai village. This way you also have an unique opportunity to get to know about the Maasai way of living adding an interesting aspect of true cultural experience to your journey. In the village you can feel like home and also do photographing and filming as much as you like without having to ask for permission first. If you like you can also stay a night in a traditional Maasai house. Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp is owned by the partners and co-founders John Siololo (known as Big John), Johnmark Kiss-may and Arnfinn Johansen, and run together with the most friendly Maasai camp staff in the Mara.

John Siololo
John Siololo, also known as Big John, is a naturalist with more than 15 years experience from guiding in the Mara. He is guide and driver at Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp. John is born and raised in the Mara and knows the Maasai Mara as the inside of his pockets. John is a well known and sought after guide. He knows what it means to deal with professional and demanding wildlife photographers, and always work hard to give you the best opportunities to have your best shots whether it is from inside the car, or from the ground or on foot – from the early mornings to the late afternoons.

Johnmark Kiss-may
Johnmark Kiss-may is a naturalist with about 10 years experience from guiding at different safari companies in the Mara. He is born and raised in the Mara as well, and has studied wildlife, conservation and eco tourism for two years at Koyaiki Guiding School. He has great knowledge about both the flora and fauna of Maasai Mara, and also he is exceptionally sharp-eyed. When availible and requested by groups/photographers, Johnmark will participate as spotter/tracker on the Oltepesi game drives. Johnmark also works as guide and driver at Entim Camp.

Arnfinn Johansen
Arnfinn Johansen is a Norwegian wildlife photographer with a great passion for Africa. He is member of the Norwegian Nature Photographers Association (NN) which is an exclusive association of professional nature photographers with focus on environmental issues and ethical standards. Arnfinn’s work has been recognised in international competitions worldwide, including European Wildlife Photographer of the Year (GDT), Asferico, Glanzlichter, Por el Planeta, Oasis, Global Arctic Awards, Memorial Maria Luisa (MML), Nordic Nature Photo Contest (NNPC), Nature’s Best Windland Smith Rice International Awards, Black & White Spider Awards, Sony World Photography Awards, among others.

Arnfinn’s work has been on display at Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC (U.S.), at Somerset House Gallery and Patrick Mavros Art Gallery in London (UK), at Iziko South African Museum in Johannesburg (South Africa), at Giacosa Theater of Ivrea in Torino (Italy), at Museum of Man and Nature in Munich (Germany), at Natural History Museum in Oslo (Norway), and in other citys like Mexico City in Mexico, Moscow in Russia, Kolkota in India, Oviedo in Spain, Fürstenfeldbruck and Lünen in Germany, among others.

Arnfinn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Business Administration from Trondheim Business School in Norway and has over 20 years’ experience in entrepreneurship, governance, board work and management within the information technology industry in Norway. In 2008 he co-founded Styrmand AS, an IT consulting company based in Lillehammer and Oslo. Today, he is the company’s CFO and Chairman of the Board.

Juridical
All safari bookings at Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp are done through Arnfinn Johansen Wildlife Photography which is registrated in Norway, ref Company Id: NO 915 911 749. The company is a member of the Travel Guarantee Fund (ref info below), and is formally and legally the contractor towards the safari clients. Arnfinn also is main contact regarding information, booking and confirmation.

Travel Guarantee
The purchase of package tours in Norway are governed by the Norwegian Package Tour Act, which safeguards customers who have purchased package tours against loss due to bankrupty, debt settlements or insolvency on the part of the tour organizer. The Travel Guarantee Fund in Norway refunds advance payments which a customer has paid in the event a tour is cancelled by the organizer. If a tour is interrupted while underway, the refund amount shall be equal to that portion of the advance payment for which performance of services has not been completed. Additionally, expenses related to accommodation and return travel shall be covered if return travel was included in the package price.
